The Onigiri Miya Cookbook will feature 60+ pages of fanmade art, writing, and original recipes inspired by Inarizaki and MSBY Black Jackals players.

Each recipe will be something you can make and enjoy at home, and most recipes* will focus on delicious but easy-to-get ingredients.

The fanzine will be available in physical and PDF format. It will include:

  • An introduction from Miya Osamu, founder of Onigiri Miya

  • Instructions on cooking rice, contributed by sponsor and rice supplier Kita Shinsuke

  • A guide to different kinds of onigiri, led by Akaashi Keiji

  • Instructions on forming onigiri from Miya Osamu

  • 10+ recipes from Onigiri Miya and friends

  • Recipe introductions from the characters each recipe is associated with

  • Full-page art for each recipe

  • Small illustrations throughout

A merchandise bundle will also be available. The bundle will include a tote bag, three sticker sheets, and two prints.

*Some people (cough Atsumu cough) refuse to adjust their preferences to this requirement.

Some recipes may require ingredients common in Japanese cooking (e.g., soy sauce, sake, and mirin). for the most part these ingredients are either widely available, able to be substituted, or able to be found online.

Who's running this whole show?

Meta (aka @metaandpotatoes) is the fanzine's project manager and editor, though they will of course depend on the invaluable support and input of the contributors. Meta previously edited and managed Rebirth Dilemma, an Evangelion fanzine that shipped to over 200 purchasers.

Elle (@elleskandal) is contributing to the zine as a social media moderator.

When will artist/writer/mod applications open?

There will not be an open application period for contributors. All contributors will be/have been directly recruited.

Angie

Artist | @AngieRoselli

A museum educator who enjoys all creative activities, primarily painting. Left to their own devices, they tend to explore whatever satiates their artistic interests. Their most prized experience is running with a lone coyote one early, fall morning.

Elle

Social media editor | @elleskandal

A social media junkie who relates too much to Bokuto—she collects owls and has been told she is too loud. To her, both writing and cooking are cathartic experiences.

Elmo

Writer | @nikiforcvs

Lives in a perpetual state of uncertainty. They probably do things (art, writing, poetry) though the things (art? writing? poetry?) themselves remain unconfirmed.

Gabi

A Peruvian fanartist who adores food, volleyball and manga. She is also a plant mom.

Justine

Writer | @lavendori

A tired writer, frustrated poet, individualist, & food enthusiast. She is married to HQ!! for good.

A California-based artist and full-time personal assistant to a cat. Mindii likes coffee and naps, sometimes in that order.

Quip

A sleep-deprived procrastinator who can't think clearly enough to write a bio at the moment. They will come back and edit this in the future. Probably.

Quynh

Artist | @naiivu_u

A hobbyist who functions solely on viet coffee and cannot converse without keyboard smashing in every other sentence. Typically found in zine hell and/or busy with commissions.

Shy

Artist | @LHOOQ_

Begins each day with a mandatory milk tea, and is most comfortable with preparing meals for one. Has too many bad habits and makes too little art.

Zean

Artist | @onniegiri

A Filipino fanartist who draws depending on her mood. She likes iced coffee a bit too much and spends most of her free time staring at hands, procrastinating, and contemplating life.
